How to Become a Walking Business: Productize Your Interests
The Internet has massively broadened the possible space of careers. Most people haven't figured this out yet.
This is from my favorite life and business "teacher" on the internet - Naval Ravikant.
And it is indeed true.
The old way of doing business is dead.
Building a brick company like one would have had 30 years ago is no longer an option.
And do you know the reason why?
It's because of the massive rise of the internet.
Unlike before, the best asset a human can have is an idea.
Not real estate, not a stock portfolio, an idea.
Don't believe me?
Take a look at what everybody is selling on social media; they're selling information.
Every course, every guide, every webinar - it's an info-product.
We have entered what the experts call the attention economy.
What Is The Attention Economy?
Even the old companies have realized one thing: attention is the new gold.
Everyone is fighting for our attention because attention equals dollars.
How do they get our attention? Through content.
Everybody is guilty of it.
Even I'm getting some of your attention with this newsletter. :)
So, if you have a double-digit IQ, you can clearly see that if you don't start creating content, you'll get left behind.
The first step to mastering content creation is definitely learning to capture attention.
Content creators refer to this as using "hooks."
They are the first sentences or words that stop people from scrolling.
Because of this, I've created a list of 50 viral hooks that have worked the best for me.
If you want, you can access them by clicking HERE.
It's 100% free, so don't worry.
The Internet Career Path
Honestly, the attention economy itself is crippling humanity as a whole.
Attention spans get shorter. Dopamine levels rise.
We get bored of normal life experiences.
But, if you look at it from the perspective of an individual, it's a golden opportunity.
As Naval said at the start, the internet has greatly expanded the range of careers.
It especially created a new internet career.
Almost everyone with a normally functioning brain wants.
That is the digital brand.
Or the solopreneur or one-person business.
Call it whatever you want, it's the same thing.
And it's completely logical - why wouldn't you want to do what you love and get paid for it?!
Building a Successful Digital Brand
When I started building my brand, I had a big aha moment.
I finally realized that passion is not tied to a specific skill, in my case video editing, but rather to a vision.
It's not about the skills themselves, but the problems they help you solve.
With that said, this is the step-by-step formula I would start with if I were you.
Create a Vision
As I said, passion comes from your vision.
Remember this at all costs - it will save you a lot of time.
What do you want to be recognized for?
What are you doing in your ideal day?
What are you working on?
Ask yourself these questions and the vision will soon manifest itself.
Get Addicted To Learning
Your vision has already shown you which path do you go down.
Are you gonna be a science-based gym bro or an Excel expert?
It doesn't matter; the principles are the same.
To succeed, you have to become the biggest expert in that field.
Consume content, take notes, read books, and watch documentaries.
Constantly learn and evolve.
Become a Value Creator
Value is the reason people follow you.
But how do we actually create value?
It's simple; we solve problems we enjoy solving in our own unique way.
By solving problems, crafting solutions, you create value.
That's what every smart person gets paid for.
It sounds hard at first, but trust me, it isn't.
Just use the knowledge you've learned so far.
Imitate what you've learned and improve based on your own experiences.
That's the process of evolving within the human race.
A person imitates another, then they iterate, and another person imitates them.
It is the never-ending cycle of human progress.
Content Is King
As you solve your problems, start building an audience around them.
I'm sure I shared this in some of my previous newsletters.
This is how I see the digital brand business model, including content.
Your goals are brand.
Your problems are content.
Solution, the bridge between both, equals your product.
Create various types of content for people with similar problems and goals.
These work the best.
Teach your skillset
Teach your mindset
Simplify complex ideas from your perspective
Explain your polarizing beliefs, like "traditional education is outdated," and explain why
Monetize
Once you've built an audience, it's time to monetize.
There are various methods; everything depends on you.
Build a digital product.
Offer consultations or freelance.
Get paid through sponsorships, like I do with this newsletter.
Now you're probably wondering, "What product should I actually make?"
The answer is simple, the one that your audience wants.
Simply check your DMs and see what people are asking you for help with.
In my case, everyone was asking how to build their own digital brand.
The solution to their problem is this newsletter.
That's all for today.
I hope this has helped you on your brand journey.
