Earning from Interests: The Modern Creator's Career Guide

You already have the knowledge and skills to build a business around your interests.

Because, what exactly is a business?

At its core, a business is simply a means of getting paid to solve someone’s problem.

Think about it: you’ve likely solved countless problems in your lifetime.

Don’t believe me?

I’d argue that life itself is just a series of problems we're constantly solving.

So, why not find out which problems you enjoy solving the most?

Start by experimenting and finding solutions for yourself.

Then, share your journey and solutions with the world, and get paid for your expertise.

Does it sound easy? It’s not—but it is simple.

First and foremost, you need to become a creator.

But what does it mean to be a creator?

In my view, a creator is someone who adds value by solving problems in innovative ways—someone whose work cannot be easily replicated by a machine.

You might be a designer, but unless you bring something new into existence, you aren’t truly a creator.

And how do I make money as a ‘‘Modern Creator’'? you might ask.

Here’s the complete modern creator path that has worked for me and countless others:

1) SOLVE + BUILD

First, solve some of your own problems.

I highly recommend focusing on relatable topics that society wants but doesn’t know how to get.

Once you’ve identified the problems, you have two options:

  1. If you’ve already solved them, start creating content about it.

  2. If not, start solving them and document your process.

For example, I’ve always been obsessed with content and digital entrepreneurship.

So, I started building my brand around this topic while learning and mastering it.

And that allowed me to master it completely.

Throughout the journey of building a social media brand, I also acquired many high-income skills essential for business success.

  • Graphic design → profile pics, banners, thumbnails, reels, etc.

  • Copywriting → landing pages, newsletters, social media content.

  • Marketing & Sales → your product/services

2) TEACH

The second best way to learn is to teach what you know, what you’re learning, and what you’ve done to achieve a profitable or meaningful goal.

Dan Koe

Educate, help, and inspire on social media about the problems you’ve solved.

Your goals = brand

Your problems = content

Solution (the bridge between both) = your product

Create various types of content, these work the best:

  • Teach your skillset

  • Teach your mindset

  • Simplify complex ideas from your perspective

  • Explain your polarizing beliefs, like "traditional education is outdated," and explain why

Teaching not only establishes your authority but also transforms you into a value creator.

And if "value" means creating positive behavior change, then many creators fall short of being truly valuable.

Be different.

3) EARN

By now, you’ve probably built your brand to around 5k+ followers.

It’s time to start charging others for helping them with the skillset you’ve built.

In my own case, I’ve built the skill of growing a personal brand on social media.

So, I started offering a mix of consulting and freelance work to build brands for others, and it worked brilliantly.

Sell the solution to your problems.

Not only is it fulfilling, but it also pays well.

If you’ve built a social media account, you can offer various services.

Here are just some examples:

  • Content writing

  • Content editing

  • Thread/Twitter writing

  • Profile design

  • Newsletter writing

And there’s much more.

Identify the skill you’re best at, and sell a service using that skill.

In the beginning, start small—don’t offer an insane 10k package right away.

Nobody will buy it, trust me.

Once you’ve helped some people with your services, you have three options:

  1. Create an agency based on your service.

  2. Create a digital product based on your services so you can earn with your mind, not your time.

  3. Monetize your content with sponsorships. That’s what I do with this newsletter. You get free knowledge instead of paying $300+ for a course, and I get paid for the audience I’m building.

Pick what suits your situation; everyone is different and unique.

Productize Yourself.

Productize has specific knowledge.

Yourself has uniqueness.

Productize has leverage.

Yourself has accountability.

That’s it for this newsletter.

Please, let me know if this was helpful. :)

Have a great day!
